The pre-furnace carbon-silicon analyzer is also known as the pre-furnace molten iron analyzer, the pre-furnace carbon-silicon composition analyzer, and the carbon-silicon equivalent instrument. When producing iron castings, it is necessary to select accurate chemical composition according to the wall thickness of the casting and casting conditions to achieve the required mechanical properties. All other things being equal, carbon equivalent has a decisive influence on the metallographic structure, casting properties and mechanical properties of cast iron. In ductile iron production, only a precise determination of the carbon equivalent of the raw molten iron can provide data for the inoculation process.
